VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Therapy
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Therapy provides learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge required to begin a career in the beauty industry. This qualification covers a range of essential treatments, professional standards, and client care practices that form the foundation of beauty therapy.
Course Structure
The qualification consists of mandatory units that every learner must complete, along with optional units that provide the opportunity to expand skills in
Mandatory Units
Learners are required to study the following core units:
- Provide facial skincare
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Provide eyelash and brow treatments
- Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
- Provide manicure treatments
These units cover the essential practical and theoretical elements needed for professional practice in a salon environment.
Optional Units
Learners will also have the option to select from a range of additional units to broaden their skills. Options may include:
- Apply make-up
- Instruction on make-up application
- Salon reception duties
- Display stock to promote sales in a salon
Optional units allow learners to tailor the qualification to their interests or career pathway.
Qualification Requirements
A minimum of 7 mandatory units must be completed, achieving at least 32 credits.
Additionally, learners must complete at least two optional units, earning a minimum of 8 credits.
This structure ensures that learners develop both the essential skills for beauty therapy and additional expertise in specialist areas.
After your 3D HIFU Face treatment:
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a week after the treatment.
- Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and clean.
- Avoid rigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 24-48 hours after the treatment.
- Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from UV rays.
- Follow any additional specific instructions your practitioner provides for your case.

Approximately 12 weeks to complete the whole qualification. - Cost:
£1,600 (inclusive of tuition and assessment fees). £50 for an Online Pivot Point Learning Lab License for a year. - Enrolment:
Open all year round, allowing learners to join at a time that suits them. We typically have three intakes per year.
Progression Opportunities
On completion of the VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Therapy, learners will be able to work as junior beauty therapists in a variety of settings, including beauty salons, spas, and health clubs.
Progression opportunities include advanced study, such as the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, which enables learners to develop higher-level technical skills and progress into more senior roles within the industry.
